Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—Opera Hunter's recent production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at Warners Bay Theatre was a bold and brilliant showcase of local talent. Ambitious in scale and delivered with heart, the production brought together a passionate creative team and a dedicated cast who gave their all to the stage. Directed and designed by the award-winning Zac Smith, with musical direction by Mathew Gallimore, assistant direction by Billy Styles, choreography by Sylvia Martinez and costume design by Coralie Lewis, the show was a true celebration of community theatre at its finest. The cast featured Jace Pickard as Sweeney Todd, Bridget Glennie as Mrs. Lovett, Archer Nicholas-Canning as Anthony Hope, Maeve Collins as Johanna Barker, Francesco Bertini as Judge Turpin, Dom Lacey as Beadle Bamford, Freddy Hellier as Pirelli, Sam Lane as Tobias Ragg, Maddie Watts as the Beggar Woman and Aiden Clark as Mr. Fogg. They were joined by a talented and hardworking ensemble who brought the production to life. Congratulations to Opera Hunter and everyone involved. This performance was a powerful reminder of the joy, connection and creativity that theatre brings to our community.
