Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of students at St Mary's Catholic College in Gateshead, who recently took part in the annual Push for Better Push‑Up Challenge to raise funds and awareness for mental health. Held on Wednesday June 18, the event brought the school community together on the oval in a powerful display of solidarity, energy and care. Organised by the school's senior student leaders, the challenge saw participants set out to complete 3,144 push-ups—representing the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2021. In an extraordinary show of determination, the students smashed their goal, completing a total of 10,004 push-ups. This year's chosen charity was Headspace, with funds raised through donations and a sausage sizzle on the day. The event also welcomed members of the wider community, including Lake Macquarie Police youth engagement officer Senior Constable Elke Watt, who joined in to support the cause. Congratulations to the students, staff and broader St Mary's community for leading with compassion and commitment. Your efforts are a strong reminder of the power of young people and their ability to create real change.
