Nalmas Lola Rose Award Exhibition

26 June 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to congratulate the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society on the successful completion of their annual art exhibition at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba, which proudly featured the Lola Rose Memorial Award. This much-loved exhibition celebrates the incredible talent of local artists and honours the legacy of Mrs Lola Rose, a renowned painter who earned countless awards and played a key role in developing the Newcastle Art Gallery. Her passion for the arts continues to live on through this vibrant community event. The exhibition brought together a beautiful variety of works across watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel and pencil, each piece reflecting the creativity and dedication of local artists. It was a true celebration of the cultural richness of our region. I'd especially like to congratulate this year's Lola Rose Award winner, Wendy Lesniak, whose work stood out for its creativity and skill. I also extend my congratulations to Robert Loughran, who received a commendation for his impressive contribution. Thank you to everyone involved in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Art Society for continuing to foster a strong artistic community and for sharing your passion with the people of Lake Macquarie.
