John Hoskin

24 March 2026

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise John Hoskin, a highly respected member of our local community, and congratulate him on receiving a 2026 Seniors Festival Local Achievement Award. John has been involved in the sport of archery since 1975, competing at both club and state levels over many years. Since becoming a qualified coach in 1984, he has dedicated decades to supporting and mentoring archers of all abilities, including those who have progressed to the international stage. Since moving to the Newcastle area in 2017, John has been a valued member of Westlakes Archers in Fassifern. He has generously provided voluntary coaching to club members and the wider community, sharing his knowledge and passion for the sport without expectation of payment. John also runs a beginner's archery program multiple times each year, continuing to mentor participants well beyond their initial training and encouraging long-term involvement in the sport. His commitment to promoting active living, supporting others and building a strong, inclusive community is truly inspiring. It was a pleasure to present John with this well-deserved award, and I thank him for his outstanding service to our community.
