Hannah Linton

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to congratulate Cardiff High School student, Hannah Linton, on winning the 17 and 18-year-old category in this year's Young Dobell Art Competition. Hannah's artwork, titled Queen Millie, is a striking black and white portrait of her beloved pet dog. Created primarily with black pen, Hannah also used white gel pens to add shine and depth, and brought the collar to life with vibrant detail using markers and Prismacolour pencils. She spent over ten hours bringing the portrait together, showcasing both technical skill and deep affection for her subject. Queen Millie is one of 320 artworks by Hunter students aged five to eighteen currently on display at the Museum of Art and Culture in Booragul. The Young Dobell Art Competition honours the legacy of Sir William Dobell, a three-time Archibald Prize winner and Lake Macquarie resident, well known for his portraits, landscapes and love of animals. This year, participants were invited to create a portrait of someone or something meaningful to them, or a landscape of personal significance. Congratulations again to Hannah on this well-deserved recognition and for her outstanding contribution to our region's creative community.
