Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to congratulate the students of Warners Bay High School and Whitebridge High School for their participation in the recent H2 Grand Prix regional event. The H2 Grand Prix is a global STEM initiative that sees high school students design, build and race remote-control cars powered by hydrogen fuel cells. This marks the first year that Hunter schools have taken part in the competition, which attracts around 25,000 students worldwide and promotes hands-on learning in sustainability, innovation and clean energy technologies. Hosted at the Newcastle Onroad Radio Control Car Club track in Williamtown, the event brought together students from eight local high schools. Over the past six months, teams have worked hard to build and refine their vehicles in preparation for the four-hour endurance race. The competition was made possible through the support of the Department of Education and the Port of Newcastle, and highlights the importance of engaging young people in the future of clean energy and engineering. A special congratulations to both schools, who will progress to the NSW Finals in Wollongong this July. We wish them every success as they continue to showcase their talent and teamwork.
