Clare Shearman

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I congratulate Clare Shearman of the Kotara Venturer Scouts on being awarded the prestigious King's Scout Award, the highest achievement in scouting for youth aged 15 to 18. Clare displayed outstanding leadership as unit leader, guiding and supporting her fellow venturers through a wide range of activities. She organised a bushcraft weekend for younger scouts, improved her outdoor skills through canyoning, abseiling and aquatics and led a four-day unsupported hike through Crowdy Bay National Park. Clare also pursued a variety of personal interests, including learning French horn solos, performing with the Lake Macquarie Philharmonic Orchestra, umpiring junior hockey, raising awareness for mental health and creating 1,000 origami cranes to brighten the lives of others. Clare's dedication, kindness and determination are truly inspiring. I wish her all the best for the next stage of her adventures.
